The feedback you'd give every student, if only there were time

Every school has a marking policy. Every teacher knows they should give detailed feedback, set more practice papers, and tell every student exactly what to do next. And every teacher knows why they don't — there just isn't time.

One teacher said it to us plainly:

"We all know we need to give students more practice papers to help them improve. We don't, because we just don't have time to do the marking."

Markable changes the maths.

Upload a full class set in a couple of minutes. Walk away. Do something else — another job, a meeting, a cup of tea. When you come back, Markable has produced detailed observations, identified what each student has covered against the mark scheme, and drafted improvement priorities for you to review.

You review each script, enter your mark, and add your comment — typed or recorded. Done — in a fraction of the time, with the depth of feedback your students deserve and your school's marking policy expects.

Set more practice papers. Mark them properly. Help your students improve. Get your evenings back.

Your judgement. Markable's stamina.

Built for BTEC Applied Law teachers, expanding to more subjects

Markable started with BTEC Applied Law to solve one clear problem for teachers: high-quality feedback without evening and weekend marking overload. As the platform grows, Markable will expand into additional subjects while keeping the same rigorous standards for accuracy, transparency, and teacher control.

Markable is built around the exam board assessment framework, with deep familiarity with the mark scheme criteria and examiner expectations.

Common questions

Things teachers usually want to know before signing up.

How accurate is the AI marking?

Markable is calibrated against real Pearson examiner data — published mark schemes and examiners' reports from 14 sittings of Unit 1 and Unit 3 across multiple years. The AI recognises the patterns those examiners describe and applies them consistently.

That said, the AI is an assistant, not a replacement. You enter your own marks. Your judgement is final. Markable's job is to give you a thorough first-pass analysis so you can focus on the moments that need your expertise.

Will my students' work be used to train AI?

No. Your students' scripts are sent to the AI for analysis but are not used to train any model. Anthropic, our AI provider, explicitly does not train on customer API data. Once analysis is complete, scripts stay in your private workspace — only you can see them.

Is Markable GDPR compliant? What does my school need to approve?

Yes. Markable is registered with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO registration C1917001) and operates under a Data Processing Agreement published on our website. We use only student initials or reference codes — never full names — so the personal data you share is minimised by design.

Most schools' Data Protection Officers are satisfied by our DPA and ICO registration. We're happy to send a copy of either directly if your school's DPO asks.

How is this different from ChatGPT or Copilot?

ChatGPT and Copilot are general-purpose AI tools — they don't know what a BTEC Applied Law mark scheme looks like. Markable does.

Built into Markable:

  • The official Pearson mark scheme for every series
  • Calibration data from 14 sittings of past examiners' reports
  • Series-specific guidance for every Unit 1 task and Unit 3 activity
  • A structured marking workflow with AF-level analysis
  • Automatic generation of student feedback reports, UCAS references and progress reports

You get complete, consistent marking output — not a chat reply you'd then have to reformat.

What does it actually do that I can't do myself?

You can mark scripts yourself — every teacher can. But marking a Unit 3 script properly takes 30–45 minutes, and a teacher with 20 students sees their weekends disappear.

Markable does the first-pass marking in just a few minutes per script. You get paragraph-by-paragraph annotations, AF-level feedback, suggested band ranges, and a complete draft to review. You enter your own marks, finalise, and the student feedback report writes itself.

The result: faster turnaround, more consistent marking across a class, less weekend work, and your professional judgement at the centre of every decision.

How much does it cost?

Three plans:

  • Starter — £6 per month, 30 analyses per month
  • Standard — £15 per month, 100 analyses per month
  • Pro — £25 per month, 200 analyses per month

All plans include every feature. The only difference is how many script analyses you can run per month. UCAS references and Progress Reports are unlimited on every plan.

What's in the free trial? Will I be charged during it?

Your free trial gives you 14 days or 10 script analyses, whichever comes first. Every feature is available during the trial.

A payment method is required to start the trial. You won't be charged until your trial ends. Cancel any time before then and you'll pay nothing.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes, anytime. There's no minimum commitment and no cancellation fee. If you cancel mid-month, you keep access until the end of your current billing cycle and aren't charged again.

What subjects does Markable support?

Right now, Markable supports BTEC Level 3 National Applied Law — all three units (Dispute Solving in Civil Law, Investigating Aspects of Criminal Law, and Applying the Law). Every external task and internal assignment is covered.

More subjects are coming. If you'd like Markable to support yours next, get in touch at support@markable.uk — we prioritise new subjects based on teacher demand.
